Last month, I mentioned that if you want to read a happy memoir, you might have to write it yourself because they’re hard to find.
I asked for recommendations, and you delivered! Today, I’m sharing some happy-ish memoirs I found and ones viewers suggested.
James Herriot’s All Creatures Great and Small is a favorite—his stories about being a Yorkshire vet are touching, funny, and entertaining.

Other lighthearted memoirs include A Girl Named Zippy by Haven Kimmel, about small-town childhood, and Riding the Bus with My Sister by Rachel Simon, as she and her sister Beth rode buses in a Pennsylvania city. Max Apple shared hilarious and heartfelt stories about his grandfather and grandmother in I Love Gootie and Roommates.
Viewers also suggested memoirs by Ernest Shepard and Mary Higgins Clark.
Have you read any of these books? Are your life stories light-hearted or full of challenges? Tell us about it in the comments section below.

But remember, whether you write happy or not-so-happy, the only way to do this wrong is to not do it at all!
Until next time, happy writing!
I have read three James Harriot books. All Creatures Great and Small, All Things Bright and Beautiful, and All Things Wise and Wonderful.
I have read the first one, james Herriot all 4 of his first books which are actually a collection of short stories, and Kitchen Privilages .I love Mary Higgins Clark books. I also watch All creatures great and Small on PBS.
Thank you for the recommendations – I will look for these! It’s nice to know there are a few memoirists out there who aren’t writing from a place of angst.
Thanks for the book list and thanks for your vlog. I enjoy it every Thursday morning!
