Episode #62 – In a Fisherman’s Language – Captain James Arruda Henry

Let me introduce you to an inspiring autobiography, In a Fisherman’s Language by Captain James Arruda Henry.

Despite being illiterate until his mid-nineties, he handwrote his life story at ninety-eight years old, proving it’s never too late to pursue your dream.

His story motivates me, and I hope it will motivate you, to face your challenges and write the stories only you can.

Remember, the only way to do this wrong is to not do it at all. Happy writing!

Whenever I think I have a challenge, my mind takes me back to an old black-and-white photo of my dad at age thirteen, skinny, as if he hadn’t had a good meal lately, wearing bib overalls and standing shirtless, leather straps over his shoulders, which were attached to the harness of a horse out of frame. Next to him stood my aunt Mona, smaller even than he, metal bottle carrier in her hand, holding six mason jars of water. When we viewed the photo together, he said he would have died if it weren’t for her bringing him water.
