Episode #71 – “Mistress of Life and Death” – Susan Eischeid

At the end of January, three friends and I went to hear Susan Eischeid discuss her book Mistress of Life and Death: The Dark Journey of Maria Mandl, Head Overseer of the Women’s Camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau about Maria Mandl’s dark journey in the Third Reich.

Eischeid’s meticulous research, dedication, and insights into Mandl’s transformation made her storytelling compelling and thought-provoking.

I loved hearing how she systematically compiled twenty years of documents, letters, and interview transcripts into one amazing book.

Patricia, thank you for sharing your thoughts on this book I like what you said about bearing witness and spreading love and trust in the world today to offset the hatred.

Patricia, thank you for sharing this book with us. Antisemitism is still alive today . That was the reason why I wrote my book.
