Welcome to episode seventy-seven of the Life Writers Vlog.
It’s the first Thursday of the month, which means it’s time to crack open my book, Eating an Elephant: Write Your Life One Bite at a Time, and see what we can find!
Today’s nibble is about the notorious comma splice.
Stick around as we discuss what a comma splice is and how to avoid it.
But remember, the only way to do this wrong is to not do it at all!

Thanks for this explanation! I still have trouble knowing whether to put a comma before adding the conjunction”and” or not. Also when I use the conjunction “but” I often feel like the comma should go after a “but”, or an “or”. I guess that’s because of the way I speak; I pause slightly after saying “but”, maybe for emphasis. The pause makes me want to put the comma after. I look forward to hearing what you and others think about this.
