Every second Thursday, I share a writing prompt designed to trigger memories and inspire you to write your life stories.
Today, in episode ninety-five, we use my book, I Remember: Fifty Prompts to Write Your Life Story.
This prompt is a bit different, but don’t judge it too soon. After a bit of brainstorming, you may find the prompt calls up more memories than you might expect.
If you like writing in response to prompts, join our free First Tuesday Write & Read on the first Tuesday of every month. It’s online, free, and a lot of fun!
But now, let’s get started with today’s prompt!

Absolutely, a lot of alcohol.
I wrote in the third person in an attempt to retain the spirit of the nursery rhyme of the story.
A bit of nostalgia…
I remember Flav R Straws also. That was a memory long forgotten, thanks for that trigger to remember them.
I just finished a story with a drinking straw. I put it in the Shared Stories for August but am also sharing it here.
My husband had a similar experience while visiting the Chicago Zoo as a child.
Quite the mama’s boy, he thought he was hanging on to his mother’s hand, when
he looked up to see a kindly black woman holding his hand.
It never occurred to my Dad to prepare me. He did the same to my sister at about the same age. He took her to a Watchtower convention in Chicago on business. He left her in the daycare center. She said the girls there were fascinated with her blonde hair and wanted to touch it. She was surrounded.
