We had a great discussion about Rick Bragg’s essays as we shared thoughts on:
What makes Bragg’s essays so appealing? Why do you respond to him talking about food, his truck, fishing, dogs, and other ordinary topics? Why are people interested in someone else’s ordinary experiences? Maybe you don’t connect with Bragg’s writing. If so, why not?
We also looked at instances where Bragg uses parallel structure, similes, and a few other tricks to make his writing irresistible.
Loved hearing this session on Braggs book, “Where I Come From.” I find Braggs stress free flow in his writing really attracts me to reading this book. Also his different type of description for ordinary things is so outstanding.
