In writing, we often use symbols to help the reader grasp much more complex topics, and that’s what we’re studying in this session.

In addition to publishing a print journal every two years, River Teeth: A Journal of Narrative Nonfiction releases a weekly micro-essay.

Let’s use Sarah Broderick’s “Tiny Purple Flowers” and examine how she uses a symbol to tell a much larger story.
