At our June First Tuesday Write & Read, we tried something a little bit different.
We first brainstormed for five minutes, using a fill-in-the-blank sentence to come up with story ideas.
Here’s the sentence:

Each blank needed to be filled with the following types of words:
- When I saw – fill in with a noun—person, place, thing
- I was – fill in with a place, location – be specific, narrow it down
- with – fill in with a person or animal if that’s accurate
- and I felt – fill in with an emotion
Some people came up with one or two sentences. Others scribbled six or more. It really doesn’t matter how many fill-in-the-blank sentences you wrote. You only need one to get you started writing a great story.
Remember, the only way to do this wrong is to not do it at all!
Once you’ve written your story, post it in the comments section below. We’d love to read the story this exercise led you to.
When I travelled the first time to Greece, the landscapes took my breath away.
The Mediterranean sea was amazing at the Island of Crete.
I was with my two daughters , my two sons-in-law, 4 grandchildren and my brother.
I was transported and so excited in a state of euphoria by the amazing beauty of the beach.
