Discussion question: Besides being the queen of micro-memoir, Darien Hsu Gee is brilliant in describing people, places, things, emotions, etc. What descriptions of hers stand out to you in these first fifty-two pages? What is she doing in the examples you point out to make her descriptions so vivid and rich? Understanding how authors describe helps us to improve our own descriptions.
