In Life Writers, we support one another by giving useful and supportive feedback to our fellow members.
But, if you’ve never been in a critique group, you might be asking some legitimate questions. How do I give feedback? Who am I to offer other writers my opinion of what works and doesn’t in their stories? What if they think I’m being mean if I share what I think? And what happens when it’s my turn to receive feedback? How do I stay open to hear what’s being said?
All those are good questions, and this video addresses each one. I discuss both the reader’s and author’s roles in the feedback session and provide a format for you to follow. Then, we do a practice session. Print the handouts, and let’s get started.
