I’ve often said there are just about as many ways to write memoirs as there are people to write them.
Nylda Dieppa’s life story came in the form of poetry, and in this master class, Nylda talks about her book, Alborada: A Poetic Memoir Across Cultures, and writing poetry.
About both reading and writing, Nylda says, “Ever since I can remember I’ve adored reading and writing. Throughout my long life, it has been my coping mechanism to deal with frustration, depression, grief, and PTSD. It’s also been an ideal medium of expression for joy, wonder, gratitude, and renewal.
“I hope you’ll find plenty of inspiration, challenges, and encouragement in my poetry and writing to support your own personal growth and healing and that of our aggrieved world.”
Nylda is a poet, writer, facilitator, and creative mother of five and grandmother of six. She started dreaming of changing the world when she discovered words. Learning to read at three years old, she’s loved literature and art ever since. Nylda was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, raised in Puerto Rico, and lives in Orlando with a sweet pup called Canela. Her work has been published and read in numerous locations.
