Letting people speak by using dialogue is one of the best characterization methods because your readers come to know the people in your stories through their own words. The author doesn’t need to say someone is a jerk. Instead, the reader sees and hears them acting like one on the page.
Today, we learn what dialogue is and what it isn’t, and then, you have the chance to write a micro-memoir primarily in dialogue. Let those people speak!
The word count for the day is 300 words, just a sentence or two beyond one double-spaced, typewritten page. Please post your story and word count in the comments section below.
As you’ve done the last couple of days, print out a few blank cluster diagrams and brainstorm story ideas. Use the extra diagrams to drill down on the topic that interests you most and bring a single s-story to life.
Draft your story, post it in the comments section below, read the work of a few of your fellow challengers, and let them know how their micro-memoirs resonated with you.
Remember, today’s effort moves you one step closer to becoming a Rock Star Writer and receiving all the benefits which come with that status. These include participation in a private, group coaching session with Patricia and the possibility of having your story reviewed by the group. It’s worth the effort. Happy writing!
