Let’s wrap up our mini-course with the basics of dialogue punctuation.
Overall, keep it simple. All spoken words go in quotation marks.
Periods and commas cozy up inside them.
Toss a comma between the quote and attribution.
For questions or exclamations, if the quote is the question or punch, put the mark inside. If the whole sentence asks a question or packs a wallop, the mark goes outside. Piece of cake, right?
Now, go ace that dialogue!
