Let’s tackle the tricky stuff–question marks and exclamation marks.

Here’s the lowdown: if the quotation is a question or an exclamation, keep the punctuation mark inside.

If the entire sentence is a question or an exclamation, put the punctuation marks outside the quotation marks. Clear as mud, right?
