In this Book Craft Class, we looked at some of the many structures authors use to write micro-memoir.
This is by no means an exhaustive list. Authors push the boundaries daily and come up with new ways to write small stories with big messages. Maybe, you’ll create a structure no one has ever seen.
To accompany this video, I’ve created a list of micro-memoir structures with a brief description and an example of each.
Micro-Memoir: The Art of Writing Short will be the focus of Life Writers for the next four months.
If you have not already watched the last Inside Life Writers video, I strongly recommend you do that right away. It will explain how the upcoming micro-memoir session will work, what you will experience, what will be expected of you, and some about the weekly micro-memoir writing challenge.
We will study micro-memoirs, read and write them, and learn everything we can about this unique genre: Micro-Memoir Structures.
Some examples are taken from the book for this session, Heating & Cooling: 52 Micro-Memoirs by Beth Ann Fennelly. Others are links to micro-memoirs from various online sites.
