Book Study – Pages 367-384

0%

In our final discussion, we reviewed pages 367-384 of Solito by Javier Zamora.

Our conversation centered on the following discussion question:

Where we end our stories, chapters, and books is critical to the reader’s experience. We need to end in the right place and know what feeling we want to leave the reader with. What do you think about how Javier Zamora ended his memoir on page 375? Do you believe he ended it in the right place? Why or why not? What feeling did you have after finishing the last page of the memoir?

We had a great conversation about Javier Zamora’s appearance at the California Book Club. If you couldn’t attend live, here’s a link to the replay.

I’m having a difficult time letting go of Solito and Javier Zamora. I found an interesting episode of Latino USA that features him. It’s a recording he made of his grandparents and himself when he returned to El Salvador in 2017 to get a visa, not knowing if he would ever be able to return to La USA. The episode is called “The Return.”
