Writing Titles Assignment

Now that you have everything you need to write great titles, let’s practice.

Pick a story you’ve written that doesn’t yet have a title or a new story you want to write. Generate at least three titles for that story using some of the methods we discussed, and then share your titles with us in the comments section below.

I believe I’ve had the working title for my book for some time: Never Discount Spunk is the title I chose for the story of my family, from my parents’ beginnings, through their marriage in the late 1920’s,them losing three children, enduring life-changing accidents, serious illnesses, and job reversals while raising eight daughters. I can usually come up with one or two ideas for a title, but have not practiced coming up with fifteen. I look forward to this exercise because it will be challenging my status quo. For instance, I wrote a story about picking up shells as a child. I looked up Pick in the thesaurus online and found many synonyms and antonyms that helped me come up with title ideas.
