You might think you’re back in freshman English while watching this video, but learning more about how verbs work and how important they are to our stories is worth the investment of your time. Today, we focus on the verb’s voice–active or passive–and learn when to use it and when not to.
Remember, don’t confuse active and action verbs. They are two different animals as you will see in this video.

Assignment: After you’ve watched the video, select a couple of paragraphs you’ve written and circle all the verbs. Are your verbs written in mostly present, past, or future tense? Do you find many verbs with passive voice in your text? Is the passive voice used deliberately? If so, why did you choose the passive voice?
