October 2025 – Your Teenage Fashion Sense

0%

Tonight is all about high school fashion, not today’s trends.

Think back to your teenage years—what you wore, whether it was uniforms or your own clothes, and how you made your look your own.

Did you wear skirts, pants, jeans, or letterman jackets? Did you borrow a boyfriend’s ring or show off special outfits for prom, homecoming, or sports games?

Think about who made your clothes, what jewelry and shoes you wore, and the styles you craved but couldn’t have.

For me, it was mini-skirts or dresses and bell-bottom pants made by my mother, large hoop earrings, and platform shoes or white go-go boots.

Use memories of your high school fashion sense to write a story for this month’s prompt.

Once you’ve written your piece, share it with us in the comments section below. We’d love to read your story and see your teenage style, so include a photo of you looking your high school best.

But always remember, the only way to do this wrong is to not do it at all!

Until next month, happy writing, everybody.

Moving the wad from side to side kept my brain busy – not rushing to chomp on the melting rock.  I drew slow breaths and felt a sense of coolness in the back of my raw throat. Only temporary, but these days, one has to take… Read more »

I am posting this story for our member, Holly M.: Teenage fashion sense. I had just been excommunicated from the cult church that I was forced to grow up in at the age of seven. When I turned eighteen, I searched for my father. As fate would have it, his old girlfriend, Chickie Throne, had called my mom’s house eleven years earlier. I answered the call because my mom was out. Chickie asked how my dad was. I told her I wasn’t allowed to see him and that I hadn’t seen him for seven years, since the day the church… Read more »

I enjoyed getting the picture in my mind of your schoolday vs basketball fashion. Cut off from the ending of the story by time (aren’t we all) has left me eager for more. Looking forward to where this start leads you.
