Dispatches from Pluto – Chapters 4-5

0%

In this video, we dive into Richard Grant’s Dispatches from Pluto, chapters four through five, pages fifty-seven through seventy-seven.

We glance at a couple of interesting tidbits and then take a serious look at how Grant characterizes Sam Olden within four separate scenes. We should all be so lucky to have such a character to write about.

In fact, that’s what I want you to do. Pick a character in your life or someone you encountered and characterize that person within one or more scenes. Then, post what you’ve written in the comments section below. Happy writing!

Steven, you placed me right in the scene immediately. I can visualize how it was playing out and the look on your face when you questioned, “Who me?” Thanks for sharing.

Steve, I could see the erect Mrs. Spector and her actions — well-done characterization. As a reader, I was engaged throughout the story and smiled at the clever battlefield ending.
