Such a rich and condensed gathering of events and emotions in your story. Since that era the way in which our worlds evolve, have changed dramatically! You would think it easy to find people but not always, I have been looking to get in touch with someone from 1980 and haven’t a clue where she could be. As you so very well say it in the end, this person stays part of my daily life just as much as anyone.

Thank you Dar for such a light, heart felt story to begin my reading process in this challenge. You captured the essence of poetry in depicting Goldie as a witness and participant, sharing with us today your perception of surroundings at the time. Wish I could have been a Goldie Male in my youth!

Hi Dar
Thanks for this story of a real character. You brought out her uniqueness, her ability to get attention and make people feel less inhibited.

Hi Karen
I enjoyed reading your story about your childhood and early years of school. Your memories of Sharon have revived many memories about family, where you lived and school friends. We have glimpses of our past in the context of so many other memories.

Hi Orah
This friend seemed to value your advice. She was at a crossroads when she talked to you about her struggle. By listening to her you may have helped her sort things out and give her confidence.

As you say, ”our hearts are slow to understand”. People around me are passing away at high speed in the last two years. Stories that will never be written for us share!

Hi Diane
In your story, I felt you were a true friend. You have empathy for what she was going through; friends holding each other up during adversity. I liked the way you described loss.
