We all have stuff—sometimes too much of it.
Our belongings, or those of people we love, can bring comfort and identity, but they can also weigh us down.
When it came time to sell my parents’ house, I faced six decades of accumulated treasures. In the end, I kept what mattered, took photos of what I wanted to remember, and let the rest go.
I know I have way more stuff than I need, even though Bob and I live in a small condo. I hold onto my books like old friends, but I know I’ll need to part with them someday.
Think about your stuff. Is it a burden or a blessing? Take five minutes and make a list of your thoughts and experiences surrounding the Burden of Belongings. Then, pick something from your list and write a story.

Once you’ve written your piece, share it with us in the comments section below. We’d love to read your take on the Burden of Belongings.
But always remember, the only way to do this wrong is to not do it at all!
Until next month, happy writing, everybody.
